Abstract
Coronary artery fistulas (CAF) are rare anomalies in which blood is shunted into a cardiac chamber, great vessel or other structure. We report a successful retrograde transcatheter closure of congenital CAF using the Amplazter vascular plug in an 18-month-old boy. Two-dimensional echocardiography revealed a dilated proximal right coronary artery (RCA) and color Doppler showed a turbulent jet originating from the RCA and draining into the right atrium. After transcatheter closure, color Doppler showed no shunt. Retrograde transcatheter closure of large CAF using an Amplater vascular plug is safe and effective in childhood.
